One of the most important bands in the history of the Latin American music
This post
will be about the history and legacy of one of the most important music bands
in the history of the Chilean and the Latin America music: “Los Jaivas”
Los Jaivas
(High Bass, the original name) was born in the city of Viña del Mar, in the
year of 1963
In the
beginning, the band player covers of dance songs of the time
But, in the 70s, the band underwent an era of experimentation, influenced by the hippie era, the band release one of they most important albums, “La Ventana” (The Window),
The band
continued to give concerts in Chile until the 1973 coup of government. the band
emigrated to Argentina, in Argentina the band gave great concerts and managed
to consolidate their musical style, the progressive rock. after 2 music albums,
due to Argentina coup of government in 1976, the band emigrates again, in this
time to a country of a different continent, France.
In France,
the band release one of the most iconic albums, “Alturas de Machu Picchu”
The “crazy year” of the band is 1983, the band returned a Chile (With a lot of censured because the dictatory), concerts in Argentina, in the Chilean Antarctica,even a tour for the Soviet Union!
After the end of the Chilean dictatorship, the band returned to Chile, the band continued to create songs until the death of the vocalist in 2003.
After all
this trajectory, and despite the loss of the vocalist, the band continues to
give concerts to this day, in this moment, one of the most longest-lived bands
in the world, at almost 60 years of history.
